What is an Evergreen container number?

A shipping container number is a unique 11-character code used to identify containers in global logistics, regardless of the shipping line or operator. This number follows the ISO 6346 standard and consists of:

  • 4-letter prefix — indicating the owner or operator (e.g. EMCU, EGLV, HJCU, TRLU)
  • 6-digit serial number
  • 1 check digit

Evergreen-issued B/L numbers consist of the prefix EGLV or EGHU followed by 8 to 12 alphanumeric characters. You can enter this number into the Tradlinx free B/L Tracking tool to track your cargo's real-time location.
